I am ill. I have been ill for about a week now, but it’s not the kind of illness where you get ill, you feel rubbish, you call in sick and you get over it. No, this is the kind of cold that builds and it is culminating in a rattly cough, a stuffy nose and a raspy voice.
My remedy? A hot toddy.
However, the hot toddy is traditionally made with scotch whiskey, but I’m not a scotch drinker. I am a big time bourbon drinker. So, I made this bad boy and he is oh, so soothing.
Bourbon Hot Toddy
- 2 oz Bourbon
- 1 oz freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 3/4 oz honey (or desired amount)
Add all these to a heat proof glass (I used a latte glass) and stir to mix in the honey. Top with hot water and chill out in the sofa. This will soothe your throat, ease your head and send you right off to sleep.
